  • Gain some insight!
Its amazing how many job descriptions still say “a fantastic opportunity for the right individual” – as can be seen by searching Google: http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=a+fantastic+opportunity+for+the+right+individual

People don’t search for “opportunities” and do not consider themselves “individuals” — those writing the job descriptions can really benefit from some basic copywriting training and a sprinkling of SEO appreciation.

How about “a well paid job for a [insert job title here]” instead? That is more likely what they are looking for!

  • Jobsite: When SEO isn’t the only answer
I think they are going to see increasing competition from the job aggregators or “job search engines”.

They need to be a “destination site”. Many people coming out of long term employment due to redundancy and the credit crunch will not know which job board is best for them. The will naturally turn to Google first (or perhaps Jobsite if it really does become a household name).

  • Linked in – the upmarket job board
A straw poll at a recent recruitment training seminar I attended showed about 75% of recruiters use LinkedIn to find new candidates. It can also be used effectively to find new potential clients. I do worry that it will become a victim of its own success and turn into a glorified recruitment marketplace and online CV library.
